Architecture or building; what is the difference?

One of the most difficult things to categorise in the architectural field is what structures fall under architecture and which are simply building. It is a tough distinction to make, leading to several arguments about what each title entails. It is simple to see that a building such as the Sydney Opera House is a beautiful example of architecture whereas a shed is not in the same league. Celebrating a long history of unique architecture

The Haberdashers’ Livery Company has a long, very interesting history. It can trace its roots back to medieval times. During this period all of the members were haberdashers, making everything from ribbons and gloves to purses, caps and toys. Over the years the company has diversified from the trade, getting involved in supporting education and schools across England and Wales. Continue reading

Space And Sustainability In Architectural Design

It would be fair to suggest that, at first look, a recent University student project which saw some foldable market stalls being designed and built would seems to have low to no relevance to us or the work we do in respect of residential architecture in London. What might surprise you is the fact that this project was one of many initiatives which were seen at the 2016 London Festival of Architecture during June. Although we would agree that there would seem to be no relation at face value, the nature of certain aspects of this project do indeed serve to inform our own work. Continue reading
