In broad terms, a listed building is a property or structure that is protected because of its historical significance, meaning that there are restrictions on the type of activities and alterations that can take place. A new take on how infrastructure and architecture can work together

The MoMa PS1 courtyard in New York City is the setting for the museum’s annual Young Architects Program. Each year it gives one architect the opportunity to design and construct an experimental structure that takes a unique, innovative look at construction. The 2015 project is called COSMO and was designed by Spaniard Andres Jaque. It features a maze of interconnecting pipes forming a water purification system. The aim is to show that infrastructure could very well become the future of architectural design, rather than the current practice of having systems hidden from the eye. Continue reading

A new building standard that promotes employee wellness

An application for planning permission is set to be submitted for a new skyscraper at 22 Bishopsgate in London. The site was originally intended for the Pinnacle development but work ceased on the project in 2011. The new plans are to build a 62 storey skyscraper on the site in the heart of the Square Mile, providing vital office space and a brand new addition to the skyline. If all necessary permissions are granted, construction could begin in 2016 and be completed by 2019. Continue reading
