Coffey Architects appreciates how creative architects, developers, contractors and also housebuilders can be with bricks. They are among the best materials because of the diversity and beautiful aesthetics. We are an architect London based clients know for using brick effectively. It is therefore not surprising that one of our projects has made it on to the shortlist for a Brick Award.
Moor Courts
Our project for PegasusLife is in the running in the Large Housing Development category. The plan was to transform a former industrial laundry site into a modern apartment building. The client specialises in retirement housing and the new one and two bedroom apartments are for people over 55. The key part of the brief for the project was to create a community feel, including producing a wonderful interior as well as shared facilities.
The brick manufacture for the project was Michelmersh Brick Holdings PLC. Their materials are fantastic and bring our ideas for the facade to life. The brickwork contractor was Just Facades and they did an incredible job.
Awards
The Brick Awards 2018 will celebrate the best use of bricks in 16 different categories. The shortlists for each category were recently revealed after the judges finished looking at all of the incredible entries. The best projects have been chosen from over 300 entries. You can view the shortlist for each category on the official Brick website – http://www.brick.org.uk/brick-awards/2018-shortlist/.
The judges will now visit every project on the shortlists so they can decide the winners. The ceremony to hand out the prizes is on 8th November. It will be fantastic to see which projects win awards as well as what the judges have to say about them. Whoever wins there will be plenty of stunning examples of brickwork to enjoy.
