Politicians have been unsuccessful at grasping the true value of the capital’s booming architectural sector in recent years. At present, the industry is worth more than London’s graphic, fashion and industrial sectors combined and it’s growing at twice the rate too. This is all according to a new report that was issued by the Mayor’s office. The economics team, who worked in tandem with the London Festival of Architecture (LFA), carried out the research.

The London Architectural Sector Report explains that the industry is currently worth £1.7 billion and it is growing at an impressive rate. There is still more potential though, with firms enjoying an incredible reputation and being able to export their skills to even more destinations around the world.

The above report gives an extensive analysis of the city’s architectural sector, including business output, architectural tourism, employment, students and economical contributions. In addition to the findings that were stated earlier, other revelations include the fact that the industry currently employs 22,800 individuals. Additionally, 40% of these architects are female, shattering the myth that London’s industry is male focused.
