When seeking to design a new building of any kind, one thing that people always seek to achieve is balance. To obtain this what you will need is symmetry. For example, we could have a mirror image about a central axis. This is not only common in our industry, but was the norm for more classical builds.

Your symmetry can also be radial. While this might be somewhat uncommon for houses looking at elevation views, you can have it from above.

You could also have an approximate or near symmetry. There is no mirror image here but the masses that are placed on one side of the axis will be more or less copied onto the other side. There could be a side extension, which differs from its brethren on the other side, but they will be similar in terms of size and shape.

Finally, you can opt to have an asymmetrical architectural balance. While this is harder to achieve, the view shall be far more interesting. Be cautious here, as a failure to achieve the balance can lead to a state where individual aspects might look right, but the combinations will look awkward.
