The role of 3D printing in the architectural process

We have always been dedicated to working closely with our clients on their construction and renovation projects, keeping them fully informed throughout the entire process from the initial concepts to the finished designs.

One of the ways in which we collaborate is by providing them with different visualisations of our designs. With a visual representation, it becomes easier for the client to envision what the finished results will be, allowing us to work together and come up with innovative and exciting designs that combine our own creative approach with our clients’ ideas.

One of the most thrilling ways to visually represent an idea is with 3D printing. With this amazing process, designers can see a three dimensional product appear before their eyes as the printer rapidly places down layers of materials in the configuration entered into the computer. No matter how many times we see it, we still get excited to see an item materialise in front of us, seemingly out of nowhere. We are equipped with an Ultimaker printer which allows us to produce a complete 3D model of a building, enabling us to look at proportions and envision a finished property much more effectively than a technical drawing.

3D printing is set to revolutionise the architectural industry and provide us with many fantastic opportunities for designing and building functional and beautiful buildings in the future. Many architects have already experimented with 3D printing building components such as beams, and even entire sections of buildings. In the future we may even see whole finished properties being produced with 3D printing.

We’re looking forward to incorporating the process into our work in even more different ways and seeing how others use it in the future. When you need an architect in London who will work closely with you and help you to visualise the finished results, look no further.
