The launch of the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale

The Venice Architecture Biennale 2016, the biggest exhibition of its type in the world, begins on May 28th. It will run until 27th November and feature work from a vast array of architects, including local, national and international companies. There are a number of special events taking place during the event too. The theme of the 15th edition of the Biennale is Reporting From the Front.

Over the course of the show visitors will have an opportunity to gain an insight into several of the issues currently facing the architectural field. The topics they can expect to encounter include migration, the role of the home, learning from economic crisis, and housing crises. Insights into the issues are offered as well as potential solutions that architecture can offer.

New forms of construction feature prominently at the Biennale. There have been som incredible developments in building technology over recent years thanks to advances in robotics and software. The advancements have helped architects to expand their capabilities, giving them the opportunity to create even more unique forms of architecture. Projects from a number of providers at the event are inspired by the animal kingdom, including a structure inspired by an armadillo shell. The construction is possible thanks to the new technologies that are available.

Recycling is also a huge topic at the event as people continue to look at how they can preserve the environment. Architects have a big role to play in helping to improve awareness of waste and can also find unique ways to recycle a wide variety of materials. A project from Chile is noteworthy because it will feature a structure made from resources that were left over following agricultural processes. They have been saved and put to fantastic use.

Our team of architects in London are actively engaged with helping to tackle the issues that the architectural field is faced with. We are passionate about issues such as resource management, recycling, sustainable building, and ensuring that properties provide the best benefits to inhabitants. The ideas at the Biennale will help to inspire people to think about these issues themselves and help where they can.
