Scotland is one part of the UK that takes particular pride in architectural design. It is therefore quite fitting that it is to be celebrated at this year’s Merchant City Festival. The festival will join the country in commemorating the Year of Innovation, Design and Architecture 2016 through the use of a series of creative events.

The festival invites people to test their skills in the forgotten art of lettering, find out more about the architectural delights in Glasgow, and look closer at the pub designs present in the city. The event is being rather creative, utilising a treasure map to point out to people where the buildings honoured with the Architecture Design Awards are located. We are no strangers to awards ourselves, having had the honour of RIBA presenting multiple prizes to us for our work.

The Glaswegian pubs are also getting their fair share of attention. An exhibit, courtesy of Architects Dress for the Weather, plans to bring together a number of drawings that illustrate the evolution of pub designs over the years. To help people get the full experience, a tailor made guided tour will be made available.
