Coffey Architects began life in the year 2005. Our intention was to create unique pieces of architecture that easily catch the attention of onlookers. More than a decade later, and we have had the pleasure to create many distinct structures. A number of them have gone on to win awards. This has been possible thanks to the hard work of the greatest architects London has.
One of our most recent efforts has made its way onto the longlist for the Dezeen Awards 2022. These awards feature some of the world’s greatest newly completed structures. In total, there are 322 buildings on the list. They are all in the running for awards in twelve separate architecture project categories. The studios behind the projects originate from 48 countries. In addition to the UK, there is Japan, Peru, Belgium, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany, and more.
Those projects on the longlist were chosen from more than 5,400 entries coming from 90 countries. This is the fifth edition of the awards programme. It celebrates the planet’s leading designs, interiors, and architecture. Additionally, it honours individuals and studios that produce the greatest works.
Our project
Now, let’s talk more about our contribution to the list. It is called the Digi-Tech Factory. This is a new, modern building for City College Norwich’s technology, engineering, and design courses. The stand out feature is the factory influence in the design. It provides a creative atmosphere full of light so it can energise the users.
The building includes social, learning, and teaching space for almost 500 students. There are also speciality areas like e-labs, digital studios, and robotics labs. All this comes alongside support areas as well as standard classrooms.
On the outside, Digi-Tech Factory comes with a mesh canopy that draws in staff and students for social interactions. It is a complex threshold and can even give protection when the rain starts pouring.
