Speaking of awards, we have recently been announced as a finalist for the 2022 Architect of the Year Awards. BDO made the announcement of the shortlist last week. It was fantastic to see our name in addition to the other 77 finalists to make the cut.
Building Design is responsible for running the Architect of the Year Awards. What makes them so special is that they are the only ones that reward architects for a collection of work. Most others focus on a sole project.
Categories
The awards are interesting too because they have separate categories initially. This includes things like net zero architect, individual house, public building, social value, and more.
An award for the best
Then on top of prizes in each main sector, there shall also be a Gold Award. This is going to be given later on during the night. The prize is for the ‘best of the best’. Those architectural practices that win each category are going to be put forward for it. There will be a judges’ vote that shall decide the winner for 2022.
The judging panel this year includes James McCosh, partner, van Heyningen & Haward Architects. There is also Maria Cheung, director and head of interior design at Squire and Partners. It also has Rafael Marks, principal, Penoyre & Prasad and Manisha Patel, senior partner, PRP. In addition, there is Edmund Fowles, director and co-founder, Feilden Fowels, and Michal Coehn, director and co-founder at Walters & Cohen Architects.
We are proud to be in the private housing architect of the year category. Several projects helped us earn inclusion on this list, including Rich Industrial Estate and Warbank Cresent (pictured above). You can find out more about these projects on our website.
