There are great architecture and design shows all year round but this October is special because so many are on during the month. As a noteworthy architect London clients love working with, we thought we would take a look at the five top destinations. If you have an interest, consider visiting one of these fantastic shows.

Bangkok

The very first Bangkok Art Bienniale starts on October 19th. There will be several contemporary exhibitions at iconic buildings in the city, including the Art and Cultural Center. A number of Thai artists are showcasing their work.

Eindhoven

Dutch Design Week takes place in this mid-size city every October. This year it runs from 20th October until the 28th. Eindhoven is a major design destination, home to countless graduates who studied here and then set-up their own practices. Take the time to look at their work during the week-long celebration.

Marfa

This small city is one of the most surprising design destinations in the world. It is a former watering hole in the high desert. Incredibly there is a thriving arts scene. The Chinati Foundation hosts Open House weekend from 5th October to the 7th, welcoming people into galleries and studios. There is also lots of great architecture to enjoy.

Mexico City

The Mexican capital city is the 2018 World Design Capital. As a result it has been sharing its story of using great design to overcome the challenges of urbanisation. It is one of the most attractive megacities in the world. From the 10th to the 14th of October Mexico City also celebrates Design Week. There are plenty of cultural events to take in over the four days, celebrating socially responsible designs.

NYC

New York City is a great place to visit at any time of the year but this October is packed for architecture lovers. Archtober is running for the entire month, celebrating great buildings across the city. Open House New York also takes place for three days (October 12, 13 and 14). There will be exclusive access to even more properties, including some that are not open at other times of the year.
