Sustainable architecture refers to the aim of a particular architectural design to reduce the negative impact a property possesses from an environmental perspective. When sustainable architecture is implemented it consciously approaches the design of a new building with a specific regard for energy and ecological conservation. At the heart of the ideology that we know as environmentalism is the protection of the planet and its resources for the future generations that will follow us, and sustainable architecture serves to support that. The Lego Architecture Studio gives architects a great excuse to enjoy their favourite childhood toy
Lego is one of the most renowned and beloved children’s toys. For over 80 years it has occupied children, brought out their creative sides and provided hours of fun. Of course, it has also been responsible for countless vacuum cleaner problems and sore feet when people unknowingly stand on pieces. Permission has been granted for work to start on the “Jenga Tower” in London
KPF, one of the pre-eminent architectural companies in the world, have won planning for the New Broadway development in Vauxhall, London. The plans are to build a 50 storey two towered skyscraper that will house a mixture of flats, offices, leisure amenities such as a gym and cinema and an outdoor winter garden. The designs are ultra-modern and have seen the skyscraper dubbed the “Jenga Tower” by the London Evening Standard because an upper portion of the structure overhangs the lower floors.
