New Design Britain Awards open for entrants for 2015

New Design Britain is a much respected initiative to help bring forward talented young graduates in the design industry, and holds an annual awards ceremony. With over a decade’s worth of heritage, next year’s New Design Britain Awards will include two new categories: Architecture and Interior Design. This means that there are now a total of six categories that cover all aspects of design including Fabrics, Surfaces, Furniture and Accessories. A panel of judges, consisting of some of the most influential professionals within the industry, will select 24 entrants to be selected for the May Design Series.

The live judging will take place next year with winners offered work placements, vital advice and other benefits to help them launch their career as a designer or architect in London or any other area they choose to work in. Those who win the individual product categories will also receive a stand to exhibit their product at the 2016 series. This year marks a new judging line-up which has been devised for some of the best-known names in the interiors world. This will help the participants gain access to a lot of exposure, experience and help throughout the course of the awards.

Phil Coffey, Director of Coffey Architects, is a part of the panel of judges for the awards, and will be joining some of the biggest names in the architectural industry. Other judges include Pia Benham, the head of design and fabric at Heals, Paul Tanner, the furniture buyer for high-street chain M&S, and the CEO of DeadGood Dan Ziglam.

There is and always will be a high demand for fresh and innovative new talent in the design and architectural industries, so this award allows those graduates with potential to shine through and start showing their talents. It’s the perfect platform for newly graduated young people to transition into the world of design and gives them the chance to rub shoulders with some of the industry’s most established professionals to gain invaluable experience.
