Hidden House was Property of the Week

Earlier in June we were pleased to see Hidden House given the honour of being named Property of the Week by City A.M. It is even more praise for the award winning design and the accompanying article gave a lot of details about the project and the setting. It is further evidence of our growing reputation as one of the best architects London has to offer.

One thing that was remarked on is how well the house sits within its surroundings. It is situated in Clerkenwell in the Green Conservation Area, surrounded by listed buildings. The location is home to numerous cobbled streets and picturesque homes. This is a tough setting to create a modern home in but our team were up to the challenge.

To make the property blend in to its surroundings a great deal of care was taken in selecting the materials. Locally sourced London bricks are the main material. These help to camouflage the home and make it sit perfectly amongst its more historic neighbours.

Another interesting thing about the property is that it began life as a caretaker’s shed. The original structure has been extended and redeveloped to create 72 square metres of floor space. The design makes optimal use of the space, hiding storage, utilities, and even bedrooms behind oak panelling.

The end result is a fantastic combination of the vision of the client and the expertise and creativity of our team. The project took two years to complete, partially because of the work that went into getting the design perfect and also due to the challenges presented by the setting.

We are immensely proud of the Hidden House and the attention it is receiving. If you want to find out more about it you can visit our website. Alternatively you can contact us directly with any questions you may have. We are proud of the reputation we have built and will continue to deliver projects that establish us as one of the leading architects London is home to.
